In the Queen's speech the Government announced its intention to allow more schools to benefit from academy freedoms and its aim to open up the academies programme to schools currently rated outstanding by Ofsted.
As Challney High School For Boys is rated outstanding, the Secretary of State has encouraged our school and our Governing Body to consider acquiring academy freedom. At a meeting on 9th June 2010 the governing body agreed that Challney High School for Boys would convert to academy status.
